What is The Action Project?
The Action Project is a Theatre Arts School that runs throughout the year and that is based in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.
We recruit students from Staffordshire, South Cheshire and West Derbyshire and our main aim is to promote theatre back in to the youth of today, enabling children to be educated out of school, gain confidence and to learn important life skills for their future careers.
The Action Project classes include Voice Training, General Acting, Musical Theatre, Singing, Classical Theatre and dance. The classes run in term time blocks and students will know what they are studying beforehand. Students will also receive an end of term report on their progress.
Why choose The Action Project?
The project was set up by actors, dancers, singers and teachers in the aim to bring happy, safe and exciting learning to the students. Wanting to step away from the generic ‘Theatre School’ and give students fun and valuable sessions, The Action Project stays clear of strict and assessed learning. From past experience of our teachers work with other stage schools, we found the need for something new, where children can learn, enjoy and not be taught in tense and pushy environments.
We believe that The Arts are here to be enjoyed, especially when you are young, not to be as an added stress on top of school and home life. Therefore, our students are never pushed, shouted at or singled out during classes. Each child is an individual and will be treated this way.
The Action Project, founded in May 2007 by Black Cat Theatre Company, is now in it’s 4th year of running and is quickly establishing itself across the local community.
